This online web application known as “DesignTools”, located at designtools.wastewater.com, originally released in December of 2005, has had a major facelift and several new features have been added to enhance the self-service support of its targeted audience of both system designers and end-users. And the best part of all, is that all of these applications are still provided absolutely free of charge to any user who wishes to sign up for the service.
While the imagination behind this system was the brainchild of Charles Tharp, Owner and President of Environmental Dynamics Inc., the overall concept of providing innovative new offerings to its customers has been a staple in the over 30 year success of the company. In 2003, Mr. Tharp began contemplating a new way to provide users around the world with some of the proven concepts currently being utilized by his experienced staff. His goal was to provide a way for individuals to answer basic aeration design questions themselves 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Thus the concept behind DesignTools was born.
In the highly competitive world of aerated system design, corporations are constantly searching for more efficient ways to provide accurate information and services to their customers. With the introduction of “DesignTools”, Environmental Dynamics Inc. looked to narrow the communication divide that can exist during the preliminary stages of a biological wastewater treatment design project.
By providing end-users with the basic tools needed to evaluate their own applications, “DesignTools” users often complete initial designs prior to contacting the company. This allows a more efficient flow of information during the preliminary project stages and allows EDI to focus in on final designs much more efficiently.
The tools available within the “DesignTools” application provide a wealth of information to both the novice and experienced design engineers. This is accomplished by providing an interface that walks the end-user though the processes one phase at a time while providing many default values for certain key areas. While many of these assumption fields can be modified, the end-user is required to provide only the values that are specific to their design.
